These are my projects for the last couple of weeks. I've been watching massive amounts of tutorials and trying to learn Painter X backwards so It has been a very busy month and I have only scratched the surface. These pieces were done in Painter X only, no photoshop. Once again just trying to experiment with brush techniques and find my own way within the program using a very limited color palette. I find that I like the expressive and gestural approach to digital painting versus the tight rendered style. On the second piece I did get a little tighter than usual and I was happy with how it came out, though it was exhausting having to stare at the same painting for over fifteen hours.

Hopefully I will be able to put out a few more before fall semester begins!

He is a Middle-class Creole mystic and his familiar is the sparrow on his shoulder. I did it in col-erase pencil. Hopefully I can paint it soon.

This is a project that I started on friday. I had someone take lot of pictures of me in my khaki detective trench so I could draw and paint the folds. So there will be al lot of future posts of me in a trenchcoat. I did try to make it look like someone else, but it still kinda looks like me. Anyway I had fun with using texture from the imported textures to the texture brushes I used in the shadows. Damn trenchcoats are hard to paint!!

I thought, what about a mafia family photo. Father and son, in a touching, and monumental moment for the family. Tony "the nose" Scaletti has just whacked Johnny "the iron lung" Lombardi. And at this joyous moment Tony's father Fabrizio "small hands" Scaletti is so proud of his son. Tony "the nose" has moved up in the Family. This was done in Corel and PS2.Good times.
